Born in the UK, Imam Iftikhar Daad al-Azhari enrolled into the secondary school of Jamia Al-Karam founded by Shaykh Muhammad Imdad Hussain Pirzada in 1995 and graduated in 2002 from the department of the DarsNizami. This iswhere he studied the traditional classical Islamic sciences and their ‘usools under the tutelage and guidance of teachers who have mastered the subjects they teach, Dr Bashir Ahmad Siddiqui (RA) and the learned jurist of our time Shaykh Mufti Fadl-e-Subhanal- Qadari. After graduating in 2002 from this learning seat Imam Iftikhar travelled to the University of Al-Azhar, Cairo, Egypt to further his studies. After having completed his studies from the department of Islamic Jurisprudence specialising in Hanafi Fiqhwith a BA (Hons) he returned back to the UK.
Upon his return, Imam Iftikhar’s crave for sacred knowledge led him to further specialise in the Hanafi Fiqh by undergoing the Iftaa(legal Islamic edict) programme under the tutelage of Shaykh Mufti Fadl-e-Subhan al-Qadari.
After successfully completing this programme Imam Iftikhar’s thirst for more advance traditional classical sciences just intensified, he continues to study online with his teacher in Pakistan those texts that are almost becoming extinct in the current day and age. So far he has studied al-Tawdeeh wat Talweeh in Usool al-Fiqh, Shams Bazigha in classical philosophy, Qutbi, Mir Qutbiand Qadi Mubarak in mantiq (logic), Mir ZahidMulla Jalal, Mulla Hassan, Hamdullah, Umoor ‘Aama just to name a few. In 2014 Imam Iftikhar had the privilege to perform Umra with his teacher and complete the sacred text of Sahih al-Bukhari in the mosque of Prophet (peace be upon him).
In 2004 Shaykh Abdul Hakim Sharaf al-Qadari granted Imam IfitkharIjaazah in Uloom al-Aqliyya (rational sciences) Uloom al-Naqliyya (transmitted science) and the six major books in Hadith. In 2015 the Imam was blessed with ijaazah in the spiritual path of Chistiyya and Qadariyya by his noble teacher and mentor Shaykh Muhammad Imdad Hussain Pirzada.
Since Imam Iftikhar’s graduation from the University of Al-Azhar he has served Islam in a number of places, namely Jamia Al-Karam as a teacher, Hounslow Central Masjid as a head Imam and Harrow Central Masjid as a head of education. With a wealth of experience he has a passion to continue to seek and transmit sacred knowledge.
